Locust Lake State Park

Swim in the lake, stroll through the forest, or spot birds of prey at Locust Lake State Park, in Schuylkill County.

Open year-round, Locust Lake State Park invites the entire family to relax in nature and is well-known for its camping area with modern amenities and a camp store. Tent and trailer sites complete with picnic tables, fire rings, and a playground surround the lake.

From May-September, visitors can unwind beachside at the lake. Rowboats, canoes, and pedal boats are available for rent, and the lake is stocked with trout during fishing season. Certain areas of the park allow hunting in season, and there are designated areas for archery and flintlock muzzleloader hunting.

The park features three hiking trails that pass streams and forests. Families can meander down the short trails or embark on a woodland adventure on the longer Oak Loop Trail. In addition, a 1.3 mile long paved bike trail circles the lake.

Locust Lake State Park is home to diverse species of plants and animals. During migration season, the park is a perfect place for birdwatching. More than 100 species of birds have been spotted within the park, including hawks and owls.
